On base, THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED BY HIS OFFICERS AND COMRADES / OF THE ROYAL NAVAL AIR STATION / HOWDEN YORKSHIRE. On north face, IN / LOVING MEMORY OF / WILLIAM / THE DEARLY LOVED HUSBAND / OF SARAH ANN DEAR / DIED MAY 1 1923 / AGED 64 YEARS / THROUGH THE GATES OF / DEATH WE ENTER INTO / ETERNAL LIFE.
