MANSFIELD Frederick George


Two brothers, sons of Lucas (d. 1904) and Emma Mansfield. Remembered on their parents’ grave.

The family lived at Trafalgar Road and later at Staffordshire Street, Cambridge.

Percy William Mansfield

Private, 1st Battalion Cambridgeshire Regiment. Died 07/05/1916. Age 20.

Buried at The Guards Cemetery, Windy Corner, Cuinchy, France.

 

Frederick George Mansfield

Rifleman, 13th Battalion Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort’s Own). Died 10/10/1917. Age 18.

No known grave. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

 

Memorial inscription at D25.577:  Headstone with curb and vase. IN REMEMBRANCE OF / LUCAS AND EMMA MANSFIELD / AND THEIR SONS EDWARD ARTHUR –  PERCY WILLIAM/ FREDERICK GEORGE / KILLED IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 / UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN

(Edward Arthur was a younger son who died aged 37 in 1939.)
