Cambridge Lives
The lives of the majority buried in the Cemetery are unrecorded except perhaps in family memories. Only where such information has been passed on to us or where details are publicly available have we been able to write up short pieces about individuals and families.
These pieces are published regularly in the Friends’ Newsletter (a great reason to join!); a selection appears below.
- The Bell Family – The first interment and an Australian connection
- William Adams – Draper, Baptist Philanthropist
- Mary Bateson – Medieval Historian and Suffragist
- John Coburn – Turnpike Gate Keeper
- Frederick Ison – Local Corn Merchant
- The Eaden Lilley Family – Drapers and Department Store Owners
- William Fiddian Moulton – First Headmaster of the Leys School
- Mrs Frances Whibley – Founder of the Castle End Mission
- James and Harriett Mitcham – Department Store Keepers
- John and Henry Wiles – Monumental Masons and Sculptors
- Alfredo Kanthack – Professor of Pathology
- Elsie Lavington Hart – Wife of a missionary in China
